A glimpse of patriotic fervour and enthusiasm marked the celebration on the eve of 75th Independence Day at Our Lady of Fatima Convent Sec. School, Patiala. The ceremony started in the school ground with a large gathering of staff and students. The Chief Guest Dr. Ritu Lehal (Professor in Management, Punjabi University Patiala) was cordially welcomed and escorted with the school band. The celebrations commenced with the lighting of the Lamp. The unique march past highlighted the zeal among the students. Hoisting the national flag by the Chief Guest and the singing of the National Anthem reminded the inexplicable sacrifice of the freedom fighters. The Chief Guest thereafter addressed the students and extended her warm greeting on the occasion. In her speech, she asserted that the uniqueness and richness of cultural diversity, an array of advancements in industrialization and education, sacrifices of freedom fighters are the hallmarks of India and today the remembrance of great freedom fighters awakened the spirit of reverence towards our motherland.
A colourful spectacle of performances by the students kept the audience spellbound. This was entailed by the melodious patriotic song sung by the School Choir. Inter- House Patriotic Dance Competition and Choreography were held primarily focusing on patriotism. With the happier frame of mind, the Principal Rev. Sr. Flevy David applauded the mesmerizing performances of the students and made the students aware about the importance of freedom, peace and unity. The event was brought to a close by the singing of Vande Matram.
